The following are some of the roles you may want to take on in the group:
Rescuing: Carrying out the rescue of a sick or injured Koala, also releasing
Koalas back into the wild after treatment (Full Training Will Be Given).
Ambulance: Meeting with Rescuers and driving a Sick or Injured Koala to
Australian Wildlife Hospital for treatment or collecting Koalas for release.
Telephone: Answering the Koala rescue mobile phone (so can be answered from
anywhere), ascertain whether a rescue needs to take place, calling rescuers to attend and ambulance if needed, dealing with enquiries, following up on call outs and keeping telephone/rescue log up to date. (Full Training Will Be Given).
Publicity: Talking
to the public including schools or social organisations. (You would not be required
to do everything listed – please cross off areas you would not want to be involved in).
Administration: Organising rotas, typing up documents, web site, statistics,
newsletters, sending emails, press information, power point presentations,
Compiling training documents. (You would not be required to do everything listed – please cross off areas you would not want to be involved in).
Leaf Collecting and Koala Surveillance: Collecting Koala Food Leaves for our
Carers, carrying out on foot searches of designated areas to see if there
are Koalas present, monitoring of known Koala habitat.
Carer: Looking after Sick, Injured or Orphaned Koalas until they are able to be released back into the wild. (Full Training Will Be Given).
